Bank delays Space Camp Florida auction
Posted: Wed, Sep 18, 2002, 6:37 AM ET (1037 GMT)
A bank has postponed the auction of Space Camp Florida and the Astronaut Hall of Fame as it tries to work out deals to sell the attractions, Florida Today reported Tuesday. The facilities were scheduled to be auctioned Wednesday, but that has now been delayed to September 25. SouthTrust Bank of Alabama is reportedly in negotiations with Delaware North, the operator of the Kennedy Space Center visitor's center, to purchase either or both properties. Mounting debt and a dropoff in attendance in the last 12 months led to the foreclosure and planned auction by the bank.
