Aldridge Commission report delayed
Posted: Mon, Jun 7, 2004, 6:30 PM ET (2230 GMT)
The President's Commission on Moon, Mars, and Beyond, better known as the Aldridge Commission, announced Monday that it will delay the release of its final report to next week because of events associated with the funeral of former President Reagan. Last week the commission announced it would release its final report on Thursday, June 10, at a press conference in Washington. However, after Saturday's death of Reagan and events associated with his funeral, scheduled for Friday morning in Washington, the commission elected to delay the report's release until the week of June 14. No specific date for the release, or location of the corresponding press conference, were announced as of late Monday. The commission, established by President George W. Bush and chaired by former Air Force secretary Pete Aldridge, is charged with studying methods for implementing the space exploration plan the president announced in January.
