Air Force space leader Teets retires

Peter Teets (USAF) Peter Teets, acting secretary of the US Air Force and the leading Defense Department official on space issues, announced his resignation Friday. Teets, who had been acting secretary since early this year, said he will leave the Air Force next Friday, March 25. Teets had been Air Force undersecretary since late 2001 as well as director of the National Reconnaissance Office. Teets was also the "executive agent" on space issues for the Defense Department, overseeing all major space-related programs within the US military. Teets previously served in industry for over 35 years, retiring in 1999 as president and COO of Lockheed Martin.
