Dnepr launch postponed
Posted: Tue, Mar 27, 2007, 7:29 AM ET (1129 GMT)
Dnepr launch (Kosmotras) The launch of a group of small satellites on a Dnepr rocket has been delayed until next month, according to Russian media reports. The Dnepr was scheduled to lift off from Baikonur Cosmodrome today and place a number of small spacecraft into orbit, but the launch has been rescheduled for mid-April because of technical problems with the launch vehicle. The Dnepr, a converted ICBM, is carrying a small remote sensing satellite for Egypt, EgyptSat 1, several small experimental satellites for Saudi Arabia, and a number of tiny CubeSat spacecraft. The launch will be the first for the Dnepr since a launch failed in late July of last year because of a problem with the rocket's first stage.
