  • TRW will lay off several hundred employees of its Space and Electronics Group because of decreased work, Space News reported Wednesday. The suspension of work on Astrolink, a broadband satellite project, is the leading reason for the layoffs. The layoffs, scheduled to begin in the next few weeks, will affect up to 10 percent of the group's workforce.
  • The Spaceport Florida Authority changed its name this week to the Florida Space Authority, Florida Today reported Wednesday. The name change, according to officials, was designed to indicate that the authority is reaching out to the entire state and not just Cape Canaveral.
