The launch of NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory has been rescheduled from today to Wednesday because of the delayed liftoff of the space shuttle Endeavor.

The spacecraft carries a $32 million instrument package devised by the University of Colorado at Boulder. The mission aims to understand how the sun can affect Earth and equipment such as satellites, power grids, aircraft, GPS and ground communications.

United Launch Alliance of Centennial is providing the Atlas V rocket.
