Did you hear? NASA is sending a spacecraft to explore Jupiter, and five years after launching, Juno is conveniently set to arrive in the planet’s orbit on July 4. To mark this patriotic occasion, Weezer and Nine Inch Nails‘ Trent Reznor were commissioned by NASA and Apple to write new music.
Weezer Hypes Its Brand New ‘White Album’ at Intimate Brooklyn Show
It’s a stretch, but hey, why not? Weezer follows this year’s self-titled “White Album” with “I Love the USA,” an expansive and often, yes, spaced-out song that features Rivers Cuomo belting a chorus Kid Rock was born to sing: “F-ck yeah this place is great / I love the USA.” It’s available for streaming and purchase exclusively through Apple Music, though non-subscribers can listen to a 30-second sample below.

And then there’s the Reznor song. Along with past collaborator Atticus Ross (they teamed to compose the Academy Award-winning Social Network soundtrack), the Apple Music Chief Creative Officer gives us “Juno.” Here’s a preview:
