Dava Newman, a former top NASA official, will deliver the keynote speech at the University of Colorado’s Conference on World Affairs this year.

The annual five-day conference, which is in its 69th year, will be held on the Boulder campus April 10-14. The CWA brings together artists, academics, policy makers, advocates and other experts from around the world for panel discussions.

Newman, who resigned from her post as deputy administrator of NASA at the end of President Barack Obama’s term on Jan. 20, is a professor of aeronautics and astronautics and engineering systems at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Though a 2017 schedule has not yet been posted, typically the keynote speech occurs on the first day of the conference.

The conference is free and open to the public and features 100 speakers and performers from 18 countries. Other speakers include Chris Lehnertz, a CU Boulder graduate who last year became the first woman to oversee Grand Canyon National Park when she was made its superintendent.

Former NFL linebacker and mental health advocate Chris Borland will also attend this year’s conference, according to a CU news release.
