The countdown is on to the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, and for the fourth time, Team USA called upon the winter gear gods at Burton to design uniforms for the greatest show on snow. They’ve arrived, and it’s safe to say nobody will be looking cooler.

An All-American tribute to the space program, the collection is packed with references that any space geek will recognize and love, including homages to NASA’s iconic “worm” and “meatball” logos.

“I have always loved the astronauts’ suits, because not only do they have such a cool and amazing aesthetic, they also were designed to function under the most extreme conditions,” says Greg Dacyshyn, head designer of Burton’s Olympic uniform program. “My hope is that these pieces help the athletes go where no rider has gone before.”

While the vibe is retro, the result is anything but. The jacket and pants are made from a one-of-a-kind blend of aluminum-coated fabric that is lightweight, waterproof, and even deflects light and sound—helpful for bright days on the snow. For a bit of added function, the inside of the jacket includes simple Korean phrases such as “Do you speak English?” that might come in handy for the athletes—or at least help them brush up on their language skills.

In addition to the gear that Team USA will be wearing for the Halfpipe, Slopestyle, and Big Air competitions, Burton unveiled hats, gloves, and tees—even a backpack—to complete the collection. And hey, we hear they go great with gold.
