He may be breaking the Internet with his hot, after-shower selfies shot in flattering morning light. But in real life, R
Madhavan is sporting a noticeable paunch, a salt and pepper beard and if you look closely, you’ll even see a double chin lurking
beneath his once-chiselled jawline. No, it’s not because he’s being lax at the gym, we found out. “I am packing on the pounds religiously for my upcoming film — it’s probably the most exciting project of my life,” reveals
Maddy.
Prod him more, and the
Saala Khadoos star says, “It’s a biopic of a rocket scientist. I will be seen playing the protagonist in different stages of his life, from the age of 27 to 75. I am not at liberty to reveal anything more.”
Hyderabad Times has reliably learnt that the project Madhavan is referring to is a film based on the life of
Nambi Narayanan, former
ISRO scientist, who was accused in the infamous ISRO espionage case. Narayanan, who introduced liquid fuel rocket technology while in charge of ISRO’s cryogenic project in the 1970s, was eventually acquitted of all charges against him but he’s still fighting a legal battle against those who falsely implicated him in the case.
Many prominent names, including SS Rajamouli and actor-director
Ananth Mahadevan are being considered to helm the project. Meanwhile, Madhavan will play the lead character and the actor is leaving no stone
unturned to transform into the septuagenarian scientist. In fact, he even consulted
Aamir Khan, who is known for gaining and losing weight for his roles. “The prep is taking me through different age groups, shapes and sizes. I have to put on weight to play the character in his older days, and I consulted Aamir for tips. He told me it’s better to do the heavier parts first so that I’m compelled to lose all the weight I put on,” he avers.
The film will be a tri-lingual and will release in Tamil, Hindi and English.
