Rocket Lab calls off Electron rocket launch until early 2018

December 16, 2017

Rocket Lab successfully launched the rocket into space today after a long period of waiting.

Rocket Lab has delayed the second test flight of its Electron rocket until early next year - one day out from the assigned launch window ending tomorrow.

A power fault was discovered during ground checks on the Electron Rocket yesterday, and following corrective measures being put in place, the team made the decision to delay the launch.

The existing launch window, a 10-day period starting December 8, was not extended beyond tomorrow in order to preserve crew rest.

It follows an aborted launch test on December 12, and another planned launch on December 11 that was called off due to unfavourable weather conditions.

New dates for a testing launch window will be established early next year.
