Buzz Aldrin and Bill Nye celebrate the launch of the SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket.

Legendary astronaut Buzz Aldrin and television's chief science nerd Bill Nye celebrated the launch of SpaceX's Falcon Heavy rocket on Tuesday

Nye, famous for his Bill Nye the Science Guy show of the 1990s, shared a photo of him and the Apollo 11 astronaut on Twitter.

The SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket launched from Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida at 3:45 p.m. ET.  The unmanned space shuttle is the world's most powerful rocket.

Aldrin walked on the moon's surface in 1969 along with fellow Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong. The Falcon Heavy launched from the same pad used for the Apollo moon landing missions.
