Property rights in outer space
SpaceDaily has an article that is both educational and entertaining about property rights in space. The article focuses on Dennis Hope, who claims ownership of the Moon and has been selling lots there through his "Lunar Embassy". The article cleverly skewers Hope's ownership claims, pointing to several prior claims on the Moon by people in the US and Chile. Property rights in space is a key issue to future commercial use and exploitation of the Moon and other bodies in the solar system, but one that has been mired in both regulatory and treaty uncertainty as well as gimmicks like Hope's.
