Atlas 3B launch on AC-204 mission (ILS) Lockheed Martin plans to cut over 400 jobs at Cape Canaveral due to the retirement of two launch vehicles. Florida Today reported Saturday that Lockheed will announce Monday that it plans to cut 425 jobs associated with the Atlas 3 and Titan 4 programs. The company issued 38 layoff notices Friday for workers at Launch Complex 36, which had been home to the Atlas 2 and 3 vehicles. The Atlas 2 was retired last year while the final Atlas 3 launched earlier this month. The company also plans to lay off all 325 workers after the final Titan 4 launch from the Cape, scheduled for this spring. An additional 60 jobs will be cut as the company consolidates its launch operations on a single vehicle, the Atlas 5, operating out of Launch Complex 41.
