Posted: Thu, Sep 29, 2005, 6:04 AM ET (1004 GMT)
NASA-Google agreement (NASA/Ames) Internet search engine giant Google announced Wednesday that it had reached an agreement with NASA's Ames Research Center to build a research campus at the center and work together on technology projects. Under the agreement, first reported in Wednesday's editions of the San Francisco Chronicle, NASA Ames will allow Google to build up to 93,000 square meters of office space at the center's NASA Research Park at Moffett Field, although the actual construction of any office space would take place over many years. Google and Ames will collaborate on technology research in a number of areas, from information technology to "bio-info-nano convergence"; the two also promise to encourage the development of an entrepreneurial space industry.
