Posted: Wed, Jan 25, 2006, 5:49 AM ET (1049 GMT)
The space technology division of aerospace company Northrop Grumman reported increased sales and profits in 2005 over 2004, the company announced Tuesday. The division reported an operating margin of $255 million on sales of $3.40 billion in 2005, compared to a $222-million margin on sales of $3.27 billion in 2004. The company said increased sales in civil space and intelligence systems offset lower results from satellite communications and missile defense systems. Overall, the company reported an operating margin of $2.2 billion on sales of $30.7 billion in 2005, up from $2.0 billion on $29.9 billion in 2004. The company said that in future financial results its space technology unit would not be broken out separately but instead combined with results from its integrated systems unit, which primarily performs defense-related electronics work.
