Alcatel wins contract for Turkish satellite

Alcatel Alenia Space has signed a deal to build a communications satellite for a Turkish company, the satellite manufacturer announced Thursday. Alcatel will build the Turksat 3A satellite for Turksat AS under a delivery-in-orbit contract, terms of which were not disclosed. The spacecraft will be a Spacebus 4000B2 model with 24 Ku-band transponders. The spacecraft will be located at 24 degrees east, replacing Turksat 1C, by early 2008.
