STS-121: logo (NASA) The space shuttle Discovery docked with the International Space Station Thursday morning, the first shuttle to arrive at the station in nearly a year. Discovery docked with the station's Destiny lab module at 10:52 am EDT; hatches separating the shuttle and station opened less than two hours later. Discovery is carrying over 2,000 kg of supplies to the ISS as well as the station's third crewmember, German astronaut Thomas Reiter. Two EVAs are scheduled to take place while the shuttle is docked, with the first scheduled for Saturday. Discovery will remain docked to the ISS until July 14.
