Nowak, Lisa (NASA) NASA astronaut Lisa Nowak was released on bail late Tuesday, but not before prosecutors added a charge of attempted murder against her. Nowak was arrested early Monday and initially charged with the attempted kidnapping of a woman in an airport parking lot in Orlando. Prosecutors said Tuesday that they believed Nowak had intent to kill Colleen Shipman, an Air Force officer who Nowak received as a rival in her effort to establish a romantic relationship with fellow astronaut Bill Oefelein. In a brief statement, NASA said that Nowak had been placed on 30-day leave and removed from flight status.
