Kosmos 3M launch (ESA) A Russian Kosmos booster launched a classified military satellite late Tuesday, according to Russian media reports. The Kosmos-3M booster lifted off from the Plesetsk Cosmodrome in northern Russia at approximately 9:05 am EDT (1305 GMT, 5:05 pm Moscow time) and placed the Kosmos 2429 satellite into low Earth orbit. Reports of the launch said only that the launch was successful and that "robust communication" had been made with the satellite, with no details about the spacecraft itself or its mission, although the satellite's orbit suggests that it is a Parus-class navigation satellite.
