Discovery moves to VAB as launch remains on schedule
Posted: Tue, Sep 25, 2007, 12:38 PM ET (1638 GMT)
STS-120: logo (NASA) The space shuttle Discovery rolled into the Vehicle Assembly Building on Sunday after repairs to faulty seals on the orbiter were completed quickly enough to keep the mission on schedule. Discovery was moved to the VAB so that it could be mated to its external tank and solid rocket boosters; the stack will be moved out to the launch pad on September 30. The move was delayed several days to allow workers to replace seals in the hydraulics system in the strut of the orbiter's right main landing gear. The work was completed quickly enough, however, to keep the shuttle on schedule for a launch on October 23.
