Scientists have spotted a new large storm on Jupiter that is a smaller cousin of the Great Red Spot. the third storm has formed in the vicinity of the Great Red Spot and a smaller storm, dubbed Red Spot Junior, is drifting towards the Great Red Spot at a rate that will cause it collide with, and likely be absorbed into, the larger storm in August. The new spot is part of a "major upheaval" in Jupiter' atmosphere, featuring increased turbulence and storm activity seen in the last two years, according to planetary scientists.
