Orbital reports increased profits

Orbital Sciences Corporation reported increased revenues and profits in its fiscal second quarter on Thursday. The company reported operating income of $26.5 million on $301.2 million in revenues in the second quarter of 2008, compared to operating income of $20.9 million on $261.2 million in the same quarter of 2007. The company credited the revenue increase on increased work on NASA and national security programs as well as launch vehicles. Company officials said they are considering developing larger versions of its successful line of small commercial GEO communications satellites.
