EADS reports increased space revenues
Posted: Thu, Jul 31, 2008, 10:23 PM ET (0223 GMT)
The space division of European aerospace company EADS reported this week increased revenues and earnings in the first half of 2008. EADS Astrium had earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of €88 million (US$137 million) on revenues of €1.7 billion (US$2.65 billion) in the first half of 2008, compared to EBIT of €47 million (US$73 million) on revenues of €1.42 billion (US$2.21 billion) in the first half of 2007. The company said the revenue increase was created by increased production of the Ariane 5 launcher as well as higher volume of business by its Paradigm unit, which provides communications services for the British military. The increase in EBIT was linked to the increased revenues as well as "operational improvements" by Astrium.
