Participation in the lunar Gateway is the centerpiece of Canada's new national space strategy. That strategy, released this week, emphasizes plans announced last week by the Canadian government to provide a robotic arm for the Gateway, spending $1.4 billion over 24 years on the program. The strategy emphasized several other areas for the Canadian space program, including artificial intelligence, deep-space robotic systems and Earth observation capabilities. The strategy also calls for a review of Canadian space regulation to identify areas of reform.
