Coriolis spacecraft illustration (Spectrum Astro) The launch of a military research spacecraft on a Titan 2 from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California has been delayed until early next month because of a technical problem. The launch, delayed since Sunday because of weather, was scheduled for 9:18 am EST (1418 GMT) Wednesday. However, the launch was scrubbed overnight when controllers discovered an unspecified problem with the Titan 2's payload, the Coriolis spacecraft. According to the Associated Press, the launch has been tentatively rescheduled for January 7. A Delta 2 launch, also scheduled to take place this week from Vandenberg, was postponed yesterday when a problem was found in a system used to release the payload fairing during flight. That launch has been rescheduled for no earlier than January 8, but could be further delayed depending on the status of the Coriolis launch.
