Posted: Mon, Sep 22, 2003, 1:42 PM ET (1742 GMT)
Ariane 5 prior to flight 160 launch (Arianespace) Arianespace has rescheduled the launch of an Ariane 5 that had been delayed a month because of problems with one of the spacecraft. Ariane Flight 162 is now scheduled for launch September 27 at 7:02 pm EDT (2302 GMT) from Kourou, French Guiana. The launch had been scheduled for late August but was delayed to check components on INSAT-3E, an Indian Space Research Organisation communications satellite. The booster is also carrying eBird, a communications satellite for Eutelsat, and ESA's SMART-1 technology demonstration spacecraft. SMART-1 is also ESA's first mission to the Moon.
