Ariane 5 prior to flight 160 launch (Arianespace) Poor weather postponed Thursday night's scheduled launch of an Ariane 5 carrying a Canadian communications satellite. The Ariane 5G was scheduled to lift off Thursday at 8:43 pm EDT (0043 GMT Friday), but stormy weather in the vicinity of the launch site at Kourou, French Guiana, forced flight controllers to scrub the launch attempt. A new launch attempt is planned for Friday evening at the same time. The launch was previously planned for Monday but delayed because of a technical problem with the booster. The Ariane 5 is carrying the Anik F2 communications satellite for Telesat Canada.
