Swift launch reset for Saturday
Posted: Thu, Nov 18, 2004, 7:36 PM ET (0036 GMT)
Swift spacecraft illustration (NASA) NASA has rescheduled the launch of the Swift astronomy satellite to Saturday to give crews enough time to repair the spacecraft's launch vehicle. NASA said in a statement that the new launch date will give technicians time to repair a range command receiver-decoder and to test the repaired device on Friday. The launch, once planned for Wednesday, was pushed back to Thursday after the problem was first detected, and then again to Friday late Wednesday night. The launch is scheduled at the beginning of a one-hour launch window that opens at 12:10 pm EST (1710 GMT).
