Delta 4 launch delayed
Posted: Fri, Dec 10, 2004, 8:24 AM ET (1324 GMT)
Delta 4 Heavy on launch pad (Boeing) Inclement weather has delayed the launch of the first Delta 4 Heavy rocket at least one day and perhaps longer. The launch of the Delta 4 Heavy from Cape Canaveral, previously scheduled for Friday afternoon, has been delayed 24 hours because of winds and rain forecast at the launch site. While the launch has been rescheduled for Saturday, weather forecasts call for poor weather conditions to continue through the weekend. The Delta 4 Heavy is based on the standard Delta 4 which has flown three times since 2002, but uses two strap-on Common Booster Core (CBC) strap-on boosters in addition to the core CBC. The launch is carrying a demonstration satellite and two student-built nanosatellites.
