The Delta 2 7925 lifted off from pad 17A at Cape Canaveral, Florida at 11:37 pm EDT Sunday (0337 GMT Monday), placing the GPS 2RM-1 satellite into a transfer orbit 25 minutes later. The launch had been delayed for several months because of various glitches with the launch vehicle, but Sunday's countdown and liftoff were flawless. The spacecraft is the first in a series of modernized GPS spacecraft that broadcast additional military and civilian signals to improve accuracy and resist any efforts to jam the signal.
