Posted: Tue, Nov 15, 2005, 8:43 AM ET (1343 GMT)
Orbital Sciences Corporation announced Monday that it has won a contract from a Malaysian satellite operator for a new communications satellite. Orbital will build the Measat-1R for Measat Satellite Systems, a Malaysian satellite operator, for launch in September 2007. The satellite will be based on Orbital's Star platform for small GEO communications satellite; the spacecraft will carry 12 Ku-band and 12 C-band transponders. The satellite will be located at 91.5 degrees east, replacing the existing Measat-1 satellite. No launch arrangements were announced. The contract is the fourth commercial satellite order for Orbital in 2005.
