Ariane to launch Eutelsat W2M

Ariane 5 launch of Hot Bird 7A and Spainsat (Arianespace) Arianespace announced Thursday that it has won a contract to launch a new small Eutelsat spacecraft. An Ariane 5 will launch the Eutelsat W2M spacecraft in the second quarter of 2008. The spacecraft will be built by a joint venture between EADS Astrium and the Indian space agency ISRO, the first such small GEO communications satellite to be built by the venture. The spacecraft will operate from 10 degrees east with up to 32 Ku-band transponders. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
