Posted: Fri, Feb 16, 2007, 10:02 PM ET (0302 GMT)
Delta 2 launch file photo (Boeing) The launch of five space science satellites on a Delta 2 was postponed Friday because of high winds. The United Launch Alliance Delta 2 was scheduled to lift off shortly at 6:05 pm EST (2305 GMT) Friday from Cape Canaveral, but six minutes the scheduled liftoff time controllers scrubbed the launch, citing high upper-altitude winds. The launch has been rescheduled for 6:01 pm EST (2301 GMT) Saturday. The five THEMIS (Time History of Events and Macroscale Interactions during Substorms) satellites will be used to study the development of large energy releases called "substorms" in the Earth's magnetosphere.
