XM Radio suffers service disruption
Posted: Tue, May 22, 2007, 8:18 AM ET (1218 GMT)
A technical problem, apparently related to software problems, disrupted XM Satellite Radio's services in the US on Monday. The disruption, first noticed by subscribers late Monday morning in the form of intermittent reception, or none at all, was blamed by the company on a "software glitch", although it wasn't clear if the problem was with ground equipment or on the company's spacecraft. Some reports indicated the problem was with the XM-3 spacecraft. XM said in a brief statement that normal service should be restored by early Tuesday morning.
