Ariane launch delayed
Posted: Sat, Nov 10, 2007, 7:23 AM ET (1223 GMT)
The launch of two satellites on an Ariane 5 was scrubbed Friday because of a technical issue with the launch vehicle. The launch of the Skynet 5B and Star One C1 spacecraft were scheduled for Friday evening, but the launch was postponed earlier in the day because of an electrical problem with a "flight support unit" on one of the rocket's two solid-propellant boosters. The rocket will be moved back the final assembly building, where the unit will be replaced; the next launch attempt is not expected before early next week. Skynet 5B is the second in a new series of communications satellite for the UK military, while Star One C1 is a communications satellite for Brazilian operator Star One.
