Next shuttle mission rescheduled
Posted: Tue, Apr 1, 2008, 8:58 AM ET (1258 GMT)
STS-124: logo (NASA) The launch of the next space shuttle mission, STS-124, has been delayed nearly a week to accommodate delays in the processing of the shuttle's external tank. The launch of Discovery, previously scheduled for May 25, is now planned for May 31 from the Kennedy Space Center. NASA pushed back the launch when the external tank to be used on the mission was delayed in transit to KSC by weather. Delaying the launch also allows shuttle workers to be able to take the Memorial Day holiday weekend off. STS-124 will carry the main Kibo lab module to the ISS.
