NASA announced Monday the members of an independent panel that will review the agency's human spaceflight plans. The Review of US Human Space Flight Plans Committee, chaired by former Lockheed Martin CEO Norm Augustine, was announced by the White House last month to provide an independent assessment of NASA's exploration plans, including the development of launch vehicles and spacecraft that will succeed the shuttle. The ten members of the panel include Wanda Austin, Bohdan Bejmuk, Leroy Chiao, Christopher Chyba, Edward Crawley, Jeffrey Greason, Charles Kennel, Lester Lyles, and Sally Ride, in addition to Augustine. Most of the members were first reported by the Orlando Sentinel last week. The committee's first public meeting is scheduled for June 17 in Washington. Additional public meetings are planned elsewhere in the US during the summer, with a final report planned by August.
