A scientist who played a key role in the Clementine lunar mission in the 1990s was arrested by the FBI on Monday on charges of spying for Israel. Stu Nozette allegedly provided an undercover FBI agent with classified information about satellite systems and other technologies. If convicted on the charges he could face life in prison. Nozette, who held various positions in the Departments of Defense and Energy and NASA, is best known as being one of the key people on Clementine, the Defense Department-NASA mission to the Moon in 1994. Nozette developed a bistatic radar experiment for that mission that provided evidence of water ice at the south pole of the Moon.
