NASA and ATK perform final test of shuttle SRBs

Final shuttle SRB ground test (NASA/MSFC) NASA and ATK, the company that builds the solid rocket boosters used to launch the space shuttle, carried out the final ground test of those boosters on Thursday. The test, performed at ATK's facilities in Utah, is designed to monitor the performance of the booster during its two-minute burn and incorporate that data into operations for the remaining four shuttle missions. The test was the 52nd in a series of ground tests for the shuttle program dating back to 1977.
