NASA reassigns Constellation manager
Posted: Thu, May 27, 2010, 7:49 AM ET (1149 GMT)
NASA on Wednesday reassigned the manager of its Constellation exploration program to a new position within the agency. Jeff Hanley, who had been program manager for Constellation since late 2005, was reassigned by the agency to become the associate director for strategic capabilities at the Johnson Space Center. In that position he will be responsible for maintaining the center's human spaceflight capabilities in the coming years as the space shuttle is retired and Constellation is canceled. The shift of Hanley generated criticism by advocates for Constellation on Capitol Hill, who considered the move a punitive step by agency leaders.
