ISS repair spacewalk delayed to Saturday
Posted: Fri, Aug 6, 2010, 8:18 AM ET (1218 GMT)
ISS illustration (NASA) NASA announced Thursday that the first of two spacewalks to repair a faulty coolant pump on the International Space Station has been postponed from Friday to Saturday. The one-day delay, NASA officials said, gives teams on the ground more time to prepare procedures for the spacewalk as well as more time for astronauts Doug Wheelock and Tracy Caldwell Dyson to review those plans. On Saturday's spacewalk, scheduled to begin at 6:55 am EDT (1055 GMT), the astronauts will remove the pump that failed Saturday night and replace it with a spare unit; a second EVA next week is planned to complete the installation of the pump. That second spacewalk is now tentatively scheduled for Wednesday.
