Sean O'Keefe (White House) A former NASA administrator and his son were among the survivors of a plane crash Monday that claimed the lives of five people, including a former US senator. Sean O'Keefe and his son Kevin were rescued Tuesday after the small plane they were on crashed into a mountain in Alaska. He was transported to a hospital in Anchorage, where he was listed in critical condition as of late Tuesday. O'Keefe served as NASA administrator from late 2001 through early 2005, leading the agency through the aftermath of the Columbia accident and the development of the Vision for Space Exploration. O'Keefe left NASA to become chancellor of LSU, but later left that position to become an aerospace executive, currently working as CEO of EADS North America. Among those who died in the crash was Ted Stevens, who was a US senator from Alaska for 40 years.
