Delta 2 launch postponed
Posted: Tue, Nov 2, 2010, 9:15 AM ET (1315 GMT)
The launch of an Italian remote sensing satellite on a Delta 2 was scrubbed Monday night because of a last-minute technical glitch. The Delta 2 7420-10 was set to launch Monday night from Vandenberg Air Force Base in California carrying the COSMO-Skymed 4 satellite, but the launch was scrubbed in the countdown's final minutes because of an insufficient flow of gaseous nitrogen into the rocket's engine compartment. United Launch Alliance is now planning to make another launch attempt Tuesday evening at 10:20 pm EDT (0220 GMT Wednesday). A launch attempt Sunday night was postponed because of a heater problem. The satellite is the fourth and final in a series of synthetic aperture radar spacecraft for the Italian government.
