STS-134: logo Shuttle managers on Tuesday confirmed plans to launch the space shuttle Endeavour on its final mission a week from Friday. Endeavour is scheduled to launch on STS-134 at 3:47 pm EDT (1947 GMT) on Friday, April 29, a launch date confirmed by agency officials Tuesday during the flight readiness review for the mission. Endeavour will deliver to the ISS the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer-2, an experiment designed to measure cosmic rays that could provide insights on the composition of the universe. The shuttle crew will also deliver supplies to the station and perform maintenance on the station during a series of four spacewalks. The mission will be the last for Endeavour, the newest space shuttle, with only one more shuttle mission overall scheduled before the fleet is retired this summer.
