NASA shifts senior leadership positions
Posted: Wed, Feb 22, 2012, 7:31 AM ET (1231 GMT)
NASA announced Tuesday that its third-in-command will take over one of the agency's field centers, while another center head moves to headquarters. Associate administrator Chris Scolese will take over the directorship of the Goddard Space Flight Center, taking over for Robert Strain, who announced in January he was leaving to take a position in industry. Scolese's position at NASA Headquarters will be taken by Robert Lightfoot, the director of NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center; Marshall deputy director Gene Goldman will take over the center on an acting basis. The changes take effect on March 5.
