Hispasat 1F illustration (SSL) Space Systems Loral (SSL) has won a contract to build a satellite for a Spanish operator, the companies announced Tuesday. SSL will build the Hispasat 1F satellite for Hispasat Group for launch in 2016. The satellite, based on SSL's 1300-series bus, will provide various communications services for customers on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean from its position at 30 degrees west in GEO. Hispasat 1F will be the third satellite built by SSL for Hispasat, after Hispasat 1E, launched in 2010, and Amazonas 3, launched in 2013.
