SpaceX launches Starlink satellites, fails to recover booster
Posted: Sat, Feb 22, 2020, 8:17 AM ET (1317 GMT)
SpaceX launched another set of Starlink satellites Monday but failed to land its booster. The Falcon 9 lifted off on schedule at 10:05 am EST (1504 GMT) from Cape Canaveral, deploying 60 Starlink satellites into orbit 15 minutes after liftoff. The rocket's first stage, making its fourth flight, missed landing on a droneship in the Atlantic. SpaceX said on its launch webcast that the stage appeared make a soft landing in the ocean nearby, but didn't release additional details. This launch deployed the Starlink satellites in a lower, elliptical orbit than the circular orbit used on prior missions, a move the company said is intended to make landings easier.
