Soyuz launch of OneWeb satellites, March 2020 (Roscosmos) A Soyuz rocket successfully launched a second set of OneWeb satellites Saturday. The Soyuz-2.1b rocket lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome at 1:07 pm EDT (1507 GMT) carrying 34 OneWeb satellites, which were placed into their intended orbits by the rocket's Fregat upper stage in a series of deployments over several hours. The launch means OneWeb now has 74 satellites in orbit, counting 34 launched in February and six in a demonstration launch last year. The company, in confirming the launch, did not address reports that it is considering bankruptcy protection because of issues raising the funding it needs to complete its broadband constellation.
