APT buys Chinese communications satellitw

APT Satellite is buying a new communications satellite from China Great Wall Industry Corporation (CGWIC). The Apstar-6E spacecraft will be based on the new DFH-3E small GEO platform developed by the China Academy of Space Technology. It is scheduled to launch in 2023 to provide services in the Asia-Pacific region. APT and CGWIC will enter into a joint venture to develop the satellite, with an estimated cost, including launch and other services, of $137.6 million.
